DIRK NOWITZKI NAMED ALL-NBA THIRD TEAM
DALLAS — Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki was named All-NBA Third Team, the NBA announced today. It is the 12th consecutive season Nowitzki has been named All-NBA.
“It is an honor to make the All-NBA Team again,” Nowitzki said. “To be named among the best players in this league is always still very humbling for me. I also appreciate the opportunity to represent my teammates and the Mavericks organization on this list.”
Nowitzki was the NBA’s eighth leading scorer (21.6 ppg) during the regular season. He and Kobe Bryant are the only two NBA players to be named to an All-NBA Team each of the past 12 seasons. Nowitzki remains the only Mavericks player in franchise history to be named All-NBA First Team (4 times: 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2008-09).
This season, Nowitzki moved into the top 20 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, surpassing Robert Parish and Charles Barkley for 19th place. He also ranks third in scoring among active players behind Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett.
